DesignDiva is a UX project centered around a virtual community application tailored exclusively for women in the graphic design field. Developed using Figma, this application provides a dedicated platform for collaboration, mentorship, and professional growth. Emphasizing participatory culture, DesignDiva focuses on immersive experiences through interactive portfolio galleries and community-led workshops, thereby promoting greater inclusivity and empowerment within the industry.
What issue am I addressing?
In the graphic design industry, women often face underrepresentation, limiting their opportunities for visibility and advancement. DesignDiva addresses this gap by providing a dedicated platform that empowers female designers to showcase their work, engage in professional development, and build meaningful connections within a supportive community.
Processes and Strategies
Initial engagement strategies were developed based on content analysis from existing online communities like the “Women in Graphic Design” Facebook group. These insights helped shape the platform’s features and community engagement tactics, aiming to attract a dedicated user base eager to support the platform. The development of DesignDiva involved multiple iterative phases, focusing on refining the user experience through continuous feedback. Each iteration helped streamline the application’s functionalities and enhance its user-friendly interface, ensuring it meets the specific needs of its audience. This application revolves around participatory culture, which refers to a community-driven environment where individuals actively engage in creating content, sharing knowledge, and collaborating on projects.

Interactive VR Portfolio Gallery
DesignDiva revolutionizes the way portfolios are viewed by incorporating Virtual Reality (VR) technology. This feature allows users to explore immersive portfolio galleries, where the work of female graphic designers is showcased in a dynamic, three-dimensional space. This enhances the visibility of their work and also provides a more engaging way for potential clients and collaborators to experience the creativity and skills of community members.
Workshops
DesignDiva lets users hosts a workshops that are important for community building. These workshops cover various topics from technical skills in graphic design to career development and are led by industry experts. The interactive nature of these sessions allows for real-time engagement and personalized learning experiences. Users are also able to host one-on-one workshops for more focused learning.
